One the control scheme is just bad it takes time to get used to and even when you're used to it, it will cause many unfair deaths. Now to get to the reason this game didn't get a perfect 10. The action gets intense and even the moments of pure silence are intense in their own right cause you never know what's around that corner. Leaving a constant sense of unease and fear and creating a truly cinematic gaming experience. Instead they used ambient sounds, from the horrible sounds of members of the ship crew meeting their demise, to the creaking sounds of the ship itself the sound is well done. Making the choice not to add a soundtrack to the game was a bold move for the developers but the final product just added more to the tension. But the graphics aren't where it's at with this game.

Though the graphics themselves were sub par to say the least even for the PS1 days and considering it came out three years after the movie on which it is based you'd think the game would have some better graphics. An auto mapping system helps in not getting lost, night goggles and shoulder lamps (running on battery power) allow you to see in the dark and the motion tracker tells you where your enemies are - but only if they are moving.First off this underrated game gets much more credit than it deserves. Hidden areas may be uncovered by using explosives like grenades and seismic charges. Ammunition, health upgrades and other useful items are scattered throughout the levels. Weapons to be used include pistol, shotgun, pulse rifle, flame thrower and smart gun.

In addition to the Aliens, you also have to fight employees of the Company, who have either been infected by the aliens and are beyond saving or who actively want to obstruct your mission. These include killing a certain number of enemies, finding items or activating switches.Įnemies include everything the alien life cycle provides: facehuggers, chestbursters, warrior aliens, dog aliens (from Alien³) and alien queens, one of which waits in the final mission of every section. In every mission, certain goals must be accomplished to continue. Each section consists of about 10 missions.

Ripley in three sections, each based on one film: The colony complex on LV426 (from Aliens), the prison planet (from Alien³) and the derelict spaceship (from Alien). Alien Trilogy is a first-person shooter based on the first three Alien movies.
